CAPSTONE任务运营团队证实，NASA的CAPSTONE飞船于周日晚间抵达月球轨道。美国东部时间晚上7点39分，立方体卫星完成了初始轨道插入机动，发射推进器将航天器送入轨道。
CAPSTONE现在处于接近直线的晕轨道，或NRHO。这一特殊的NRHO轨道与Gateway（月球轨道空间站）将使用的轨道相同，该站将支持NASA的阿尔忒弥斯任务。CAPSTONE是首个搭载NRHO的航天器，也是首个在月球上运行的立方体卫星。
在接下来的五天里，CAPSTONE将进行另外两次清理机动，以完善其轨道。在这些演习之后，团队将审查数据，以确认CAPSTONE在NRHO中仍处于正轨。
